th mission – 2016
My School Bag has completed its first mission of a new decade. We wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary by distributing to each child living off the garbage depot, a drink of Fanta and donuts (gift from the team). In this spirit, the 10km walk, did not alter the pleasure of receiving the necessary school material.
In spite of the state of insecurity in the country, we had many success stories and, with great pleasure, we were able to offer gifts to all children with good grades. All preferred clothing graciously given by Wal-Mart and polos from the Cremerie Concorde/IEverest in Laval.
The two boys taking auto mechanics have succeeded and received last week, their certification of completion. We are extremely proud of them as for the last year, they have walked 10 km morning and night to attend classes. One of them stated, “I could not even have dreamed of such an opportunity”.
As we have just returned on June 9
th, the team is already organizing an event to create new funds in order to continue our missions. On July 1st, we will have a garage sale in Dorval. For further details, please visit our Facebook page.
