Happy Holidays message to donators

Happy Holidays     Christmas Holidays are a season of celebration It is a time for family gatherings, for festive meals and a gift exchange around a Christmas tree.

In this spirit, members of My School Bag would like to wish you well deserved wishes of happiness. Indeed, your generosity contributed, among other things, to give hope to many young Burundians. Our presence in 2015 might have been the only happy event in these difficult times as the Burundi population is worn down by a political crisis and intense violence. The achievement of our 10th mission would not have been possible without your support.

You have accomplished much. Thanks to your help, we were able to start Phase 2 of the project that is to offer professional training to those who will not attend university. By working with O.P.D.E. (humanitarian work for the protection and development of children in difficulty), two of our students, that we follow since 2006, have began their training in auto-mechanics last October. This is what one of them had to say:

« Hello Mom (to Corinne Chatel), Frank and I enjoy our course in auto-mechanics. I am working very hard as I have succeeded to dismantle and reassemble both a diesel and a gasoline engine. I thank you so much; you are the best help in my life. Please forward my greetings to everyone.»

His name is Rodrigue. He lost his mother at the age of 8 and was orphaned at the age of 13 when his father also passed away. Since then, as the older child, he became the sole provider for his sister and his 2 younger brothers. Thanks to you, all are in school. Before our commitment to help these children, Rodrigue was forced to collect unconsumed coal at the city dump to buy schoolbooks and feed his family. All this has changed… because of you.

Most sincerely, thank you! Happy holidays to you and your loved ones.

P.S. Details on the events organized for the benefit of My School Bag can be found on the website or on our Facebook page.
